This has been one heck of a summer. It’s been very busy, and very exciting. I’m going to put up some photos with captions and tell you all about it. I was a speaker at a Pecha Kucha talk, we went to Edinburgh, I did two readings in New York and got stranded in a hurricane, and in between, the zines were in an exhibition at Site Gallery in Sheffield. British Library Archive!

My blog is going to be archived by the British Library! How cool is that? They’ve asked me because it ‘represents aspects of UK documentary heritage’. The answer is yes because A: I’m a total library fangirl, B: that is one of my favourite places in England – it’s usually my first stop after I get off the train in London and I have spent inappropriate amounts of both time and money in the gift shop, and C: How cool of an honour is that? Wow! Thank you, British Library.

Last November we were invited to perform at the DIY Outspoken Showcase at Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds. My short film, The FU Story was also screened, and I got to be part of a very cool panel with Josie Long, Scout Niblett and Katie Harkin. Rosie Stoker has made a short doc of the day. You can see it here! If you’d like to catch Adventures in Menstruating or Josie Long at the Fringe, we’re on the Ladyfest Edinburgh Cabaret tomorrow night from 8 - 11 at Leith Circle of Friends, Leith Walk. Josie’s on at the Pleasance Dome every night at 7, but tickets are selling out fast so grab them soon! (I have learned this from experience.)

Zines in the news! Latest two titles got a mention on the BBC news website today in a Sheffield/Rotherham fanzine feature, which was kinda amazing given all the other stuff that’s going on. Also, here’s the bit I did on Radio Sheffield, which is online for a week. (Listen from about 2.20.) And now back to your regularly scheduled Fringe.

Hello! I’ve had a very cool day -had a chat about zines on BBC Radio Sheffield including my new zine about the secret lives of planets. Then packed up and got ready to head up to Edinburgh Ladyfest at the Fringe! Come check us out – Sarah and I will be each be doing stuff from our own individual shows and then concluding with the best of Adventures in Menstruating. Pecka Kucha #6 was awesome. The talks were amazing, the responses even better! It was very cool sharing my feminine hygiene advertising insights with my adopted hometown of Sheffield, and I met some very interesting people. If you’re in the mood for a zine fair, you’ve come to the right place.

For those near Nottingham, check out the Nottingham Zine Fair, where you can get Adventures in Menstruating #6 and The Venns: A Quest for the Perfect Pub Quiz Team from the always awesome Marching Stars Distro.

If you’re nearer London, you should definitely check out the International Alternative Press Fair, where you can grab The Venns from Active Distribution.

There are loads of activities and stalls for zine, comic and craft fans, and stalls from our favourite distros and artists. Please show them some support.

If you can’t make it, the zines are available online from the distros linked above, in limited quantities.
